Every day, the Okeechobee Waterways Team works to maintain the levees and waterways that help safeguard communities surrounding Lake Okeechobee. Their work supports flood protection, environmental stewardship, and the long term health of one of Florida’s most important water systems.
The program also serves as a pathway to employment, providing stable jobs and workforce development opportunities for local residents, including many individuals with disabilities. By combining purpose driven work with hands on experience, the Okeechobee Waterways Team strengthens both the community and the workforce.
